Miracle of the Month

We would like to share with you some of the awesome things that God has been doing.  As we have fasted and prayed the Lord revealed to us that we were to join together and start a non-profit ministry called United In Him.  At the same time, He also said that this ministry would be established upon a miracle and that He would provide the money needed to start the ministry. Therefore, He told us that neither of us could put any of our own money toward filing the paper work (which totals $700.00), nor could we ask anyone to support us financially.  Many people questioned how we thought God would provide this money without asking for donations or doing some sort of fund raiser like a car wash.  Our response was always, “If God calls us to do that we will, but right now He has only called us to fast and pray.”

So here is where the miracle comes in….When Jackie went to visit her family over the holidays, she met her brother in Vegas and then flew the last leg of the flight with him and his girlfriend.  While on the plane she explained to him that she will not be working this year, as she is living off of her savings and just working in the ministry. Therefore, she did not want him to spend a large sum of money on Christmas presents for her.  She shared with him the awesome things God is doing though United In Him, such as distributing 5,000 Christmas turkey baskets throughout the Hampton Roads area, facilitating an Angel Tree party for the children of Twin Canal, and providing an opportunity for 80 people to attend a Christmas dinner.  She briefly mentioned our need of $700 to establish the ministry.

When they arrived in Salt Lake City, they were waiting in line to buy coffee and a woman who had been sitting across from her on the plane, came up to her, put money in her hand and said, “I just want you to know that God answers prayer.”   Overwhelmed by receiving anything from a stranger, she thanked her and asked for her name.  She told Jackie her first name, but wanted to remain anonymous.  When she left, Jackie promised that United In Him would pray for her family and then opened up her hand to find 7 $100 bills!  Praise God for His Providential Blessings!

Miracle of the Month

Reaching One Person At A Time

Every Monday night, United In Him holds a prayer meeting at the Twin Canal Community center, where we have had the privilege of praying with many children as well as teenagers.  Each week God directs the prayer meeting to meet the needs of the children who attend.  But at one particular prayer meeting, two of the children went up to each of the four adults present and anointed them with oil.  At that moment, a Christian leader felt a band being broken and a stronghold was lifted from her life.  Praise God that He hears the prayers of all His children, and that it only takes the faith of a mustard seed to move mountains.

We have been praying that the adults in Twin Canal would begin to see their need for God and desire to come prayer.  In November, a single mother of 4 came to pick up her children, and asked if we would pray for her.  She was going to an interview the next day and really needed the job.  However, she had been smoking marijuana and knew that the job would require a drug test.  She made a promise to God at that time, that if she received the job, she would never smoke again.  Praise Be To God!  She passed the drug screening and got the job, and has not touched any drugs since that time.  She is now helping us organize the dance team and planning on helping us transport the children to church on Sundays when she gets a new vehicle.  She is a true testimony of how God can do anything, when we believe and put our trust in Him.

Forming Relationships Is Essential in Nurturing and Directing Students

F.R.I.E.N.D.S. began three years ago when God gave Vicki the vision to begin an after-school mentoring program with Christian volunteers.  Each week F.R.I.E.N.D.S. mentors come to the school and meet one-on-one with their designated student for a little over an hour.  Presently there are 23 mentor pairs meeting at Parkway Elementary.  Please pray that God would bring us more mentors.  There are over 50 kids who desire to be in the program!

F.R.I.E.N.D.S. is making such a difference in the lives of the students.  In fact, F.R.I.E.N.D.S. was nominated for, and won, an Exemplary Partnership Award given by the superintendent of schools the first year it was established!  The award is significant primarily because it puts the superintendent’s stamp of approval on the program, which opens the doors for other schools to consider this Christian based program within their school.
