1 Chronicles 4:10 Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request. |
To unite with churches and other Christian organizations to totally transform inner city communities through the love of Jesus Christ.
GOD HAS PROVIDED NEW DANCE TEACHER!
We have been praying for seven
months for someone who has a heart for children and the
skill to teach gospel praise dance.
Praise God He has provided once again!
One of our volunteers, Connie Caldwell, will be
officially taking over the position starting August 9th.
We are extremely thankful for her, and the
children are so excited about learning new dances for
Jesus.
It is very powerful to see the children dancing for Jesus. They all love to dance, and what better outlet for them than to use their talent to reach the lost. This month the Lord poured out such blessings upon us as we joined Calvary Revival Church in an outreach to Portsmouth. It was such a thrill for the United In Him dance team to participate in this event where many people received Jesus for the first time, and many others re-dedicated their lives to Him. The children also learned the power of God to overcome their fears and how great it is to use your gifts for Jesus.
GOD HAS ANSWERED OUR PRAYERS! From the time United In Him was established, we have had the desire to have a full-scale tutoring program equipped with high-speed internet, advanced software programs, and an interactive website where supporters can write to the children sending them their prayer requests.
Well, last month one of our
volunteers, Susan Baroody, talked to her college
professors about becoming United In Him’s first intern
where she would earn college credit for establishing a
website, networking all of our computers, and
refurbishing all of our old computers.
Therefore, we are elated to announce that you can
find us at
www.unitedinhim.org
beginning the second week in August.
Higher Learning,
the full-scale tutoring program, is also celebrating its
success after only a month of inception.
This program is literally transforming the children’s self
imagine and how they see their future.
Many of the children who are in the program will
be repeating the 4th grade next year, which
left them feeling frustrated, unintelligent, and wanting
to give up.
But now they are excited about learning and are
seeing their true potential.
We wish all of you could experience the excitement of seeing
their eyes light up when they finally understand a very
difficult concept.
They now realize that they are capable of achieving
anything, and that all they must do is focus on Jesus
first and then listen closely to what the teacher is
saying.
Higher Learning begins each
class with prayer and a Bible lesson, as we believe that
true wisdom comes only through His Word that He will
enable them to succeed in all areas of their lives.
The children learn Math, Reading and Writing in
the morning, followed by an enrichment class where
higher level math, science, anatomy, and Spanish are
introduced.
Higher Learning has taught
them that in Christ they can do all things.
The children now believe that they will not only pass
the 4th
grade, but be Honor Roll students for the rest of their
lives. United In Him is committed to helping them
achieve this goal as they will receive weekly homework
assistance as well as additional training throughout the
school year.
The Leadership Team prepared all
month to honor their mothers at the Mother/Daughter
party. The
children made cards, plants, and homemade sugar and
chocolate chip cookies.
During the month we focused on ways in which to bless
their mothers at home, as well as how to more
effectively pray for their mothers physically,
spiritually, and emotionally.
The children have learned that there is a lot more
responsibility that comes when you know that God has
made you a leader.
The party began
with the children praying for their mothers, a Bible
lesson on Jabez, and then a Bible trivia challenge.
The mothers got actively involved and were excited to
see how much their children have learned.
While enjoying all the snacks their children had made,
together they painted picture frames and made bracelets.
At the close of the party, United In Him blessed
the mothers with the book, The Prayer of Jabez, a
United In Him T-Shirt, and a Bible.
What a wonderful miracle!
