Pray that God would begin to open the doors to facilitate an even larger bus ministry! |
To unite with churches and other Christian organizations to totally transform inner city communities through the love of Jesus Christ.
Have you ever wondered what it is like operating a bus ministry without a bus? J
Well, it has become quite a challenge over the past few months. We are certainly not complaining, but ask you to pray that God would quickly open doors for additional transportation. Presently, we transport 25-30 individuals every week, but many additional people continue to request transportation to church.
Our CARE group has been so great to help us whenever possible, but even with their help there have been Sundays where we had to turn people away due to lack of transportation.
A Typical Sunday for United In Him. Saturday night 1. We ask all adults and children if they will be attending church. 2. We call all volunteers to see who may be able to help us with transportation.
Sunday morning Before Service 1. At 9:00 a.m. we begin calling to confirm that they are still going to church. 2. We make a list of vehicles and assign passengers to that vehicle. 3. We then make a second list for each vehicle that will need to transport individuals to church and then return for a second or third load. 4. When we arrive at church we have a certain section that we like the children to sit in so that they will know where to go to find their leader when they get dropped off. 3. As soon as one car is loaded we send those individuals to save some seats and then sign in any small children.
After Service 1. After service we pick up all of the children from their classes. 2. We check out a van from the church to transport the children home. 3. After dropping off the children we fix a meal for the teenagers going back to The Source 4. We then transport 7+ teens to the youth meeting back at the church 5. We return the church van and any other vehicles that we have borrowed. 6. At 5:30 p.m. we have a fellowship dinner for all the volunteers who have helped us.
Sundays are AMAZING! We are seeing God begin the awesome expansion of this ministry and it is so exciting to see the fruit of our labor. We are literally busting at the seams in every area. We praise God that He is working powerfully in the hearts of so many individuals and now we are seeing entire families coming to church!
We thank each of you for praying for us as God continues to transform lives here in Virginia Beach. |
