UIH Summer Leadership Boot Camp

Summer has started and we have chosen 13 exceptional leaders to be a part of the UIH Summer Leadership Boot Camp!  The cut was difficult as many of our children/teens in Twin Canal exemplify the gifts of the Spirit. But those we selected truly aspire to become great leaders for Christ.

Spiritual Leadership

Our first week of summer bootcamp was spent  in North Carolina  on an  overnight trip where leaders spent time worshipping, praying, and reading the Word.   Our  hearts  were  touched  by the

power of  God as  each of them shared  how God  had

been speaking to them individually in their quiet times.

Fitness Challenge

Four of our young leaders have joined the UIH Biggest Loser challenge over the summer with the goal of getting in shape and using their talents to glorify God.

Over the past year our children/teen bible study has grown dramatically.  We now have 15+ children/teens who attend every Monday night and many teens have started bringing their friends.  During the month of June Ashley covered the following topics:

·        Abortion

·        Horror films

·        Secular music

·        Demons

·        Spiritual Warfare

·        Encouragement

·        Godly purpose

·        Future Goals

Summer Leadership Camp Required Knowledge

·        How to lead someone to Christ

·        How to prove the Deity of Christ

·        How to disprove the theory of evolution

·        Locating Jesus’ statements on Hell

·        Explaining the Rapture

·        Outlining the book or Revelations

·        Specific verses must be memorized

Our leaders are committing the Word of God to memory and are learning many foundational truths that will equip them for battle against the enemies attacks.  These young leaders live in a place where drugs, violence, and sexual promiscuity are a norm; but they have risen above their circumstances and found their purpose in Christ.  No longer are they bound by low expectations and negative thinking, our leaders have the talent, knowledge, and passion to see God do amazing things in their lives.

Many think of our leaders as disadvantaged due to their financial limitations, but these young leaders see themselves as achieving far more than the norm.  They are seeking to imitate their role model, Ashley, who is following passionately after Christ.  So you can count on them becoming amazing leaders for Christ in the next generation.
