Financing

Because of the cost of the trip, we asked each of the girls to come up with $300 to help cover some of the expenses.

Preparation

Each of the girls had to earn the right to go to California, by taking Bible tests, memorizing verses, and doing community service projects.

Highlights

The girls 1st flight was incredible.  All of the girls were afraid, but after the first plane ride, they all felt comfortable and loved the experience.

The Dream Center was incredible to see just the fruit that has been produced from one man's faith.

Graduation was amazing.  We watched student films for over 4 hours.

Universal Studios, Sea World, and Mexico were awesome!

While in Mexico they were able to gain a new perspective of how much people want to come to the United States.

Tanicia went on all the rides at Knott's Berry Farm even the most terrifying proving that she can overcome fear!

The girls loved going to the Chinese Theater and seeing all the famous impersonators.

We were blessed to receive a free upgrade to a 7 passenger van for our entire trip!

  California, Here We Come!

Jackie was planning her trip          to LA to see her brother      graduate from film school.

We were able to get tickets         for only $234.

We received free tickets to      take the girls to Universal       Studios, Sea World, and       Knott's Berry Farm.

We also took the girls into       Mexico for a day.

This trip was a milestone for       all of the girls.  It was the 1st      time anyone in their immediate       family had been on a plane.

We spent a lot of time talking      about how materialism and         how people chose to spend      their money.

Each morning before we left         Jackie's brother's house we      spent time in God's Word and      every evening we gathered          to pray and discuss what they       had learned.

Tanicia decided after this trip      that one of the things that she      wanted to commit to doing      over  the next school year        was to spend daily time with      the LORD.

These 4 girls are each competing to earn one of the 3 spots available for this trip.  Each of the girls earn points by memorizing scripture, completing community service projects, and achieving excellence on advanced Bible tests.  They spend at least 2½ hours a day studying Bible history, Christian doctrine, and the major doctrines of Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Mormonism, and Jehovah Witnesses.  In addition, they have served as camp counselors, participated in feeding the homeless, and served in other capacities throughout the summer.

Praise God for a wonderful trip!
