To unite with churches and other Christian organizations to totally transform inner city communities through the love of Jesus Christ.
One of our greatest limitations has always been transportation, but that is quickly changing!
This month ISOH a Christian organization in Ohio heard about our need and donated their 7-passenger van. However, when Vicki flew to Ohio to pick it up, they discovered that the brakes, rods, and even the engine needed repaired. The cost totaled $800 even with a discount. But God came through again as ISOH decided to pay $750.00! We serve a mighty God who can make a way when there seems like to be no way.
This van will allow us to transport 2 additional families to church every week, distribute additional food, clothing, and furniture to needy families, as well as enable us to transport more children to events, outreaches, and activities.
We ask you to continue to pray that we will receive additional vehicles and volunteers as we are seeing God do tremendous things in the hearts of so many of the residents in Twin Canal. Currently we have 4 vehicles filled to capacity every Sunday with adults and children, but we have never been able to send out an open invitation to all of the residents to attend church, as this would extremely overload our current capacity.
UPDATE: During the month of May, we also received a 24 passenger bus, but due to the extensive repairs that were needed, our leaders recommended that we that release the bus to someone who would be able to repair it.
Higher Learning – the after school tutoring program – has averaged 60 kids per week and continues to grow everyday. Teachers from the local elementary school have recommended the program, parents are calling to see how their children can get involved, and students are achieving far more than they ever though possible.
This year we raised our expectations of our older girls, as they now must receive honor roll to be considered for the highest ranking on our leadership team. This requirement has caused our leaders to rise to another level in their scholastics.
Tanicia – a 6th grader who is on our outreach dance team and highly active in Bible Study received five A’s and one B. She also joined SCA, a student government organization at her school, which oversees other committees and focuses on community service.
ShawnDera – a member of our outreach dance team is now on the honor roll and exceeding in every area of her life. Although she didn’t pass last year, she now knows that she can do all things through Christ who is her strength.
Danielle – a 5th grade on our outreach dance team was put in the advanced class at her school and is on the honor roll.
