1st Place Trophy

On September 23rd, the UIH Steppers competed in The Hot Summer Step-Off benefit for St. Jude’s Hospital.  In July the girls auditioned and the administrators of the event said that some teams were chosen simply “because of their potential.” We knew that we fell into that category.  But God had His hand upon our girls! All throughout the summer Ashley continued to instill in them “that whatever you do, work at it as unto the LORD, not for men.” (Col 3:23)  And our girls truly rose to a level of excellence not only in their stepping, but also in every area of their lives.

Thoughts from a 6th grader – By Danielle

“We won the Hot Summer Step Off this summer, which took a lot of hard work.  We had to practice 2 hours every night, which was hard after getting my homework finished. The day of the Step Off everyone was nervous until we heard another team performing and they were really good.  At first we got

discouraged, but then we got hyped and we went out on stage motivated to win.  We prayed a lot that day and many people came up to us after the competition to tell us that they felt God’s Spirit when we stepped.  We were so nervous when they were calling out who won, but then when they said, ‘United In Him’, we started jumping all over the stage, crying and laughing.”

On Stage

From the moment our girls stepped on the stage the anointing of God fell upon them in a miraculous way! They stepped for Christ and represented Him with great power and authority.  Countless people came up to us afterwards and shared how much God had touched them through the UIH Steppers.  We were so excited that we were able to be an encouragement to so many people, and the trophy was just the icing on the cake.

The girls didn’t just win the trophy, they won the respect of the other teams and gained a sense of self-worth unlike they had ever had before.  We have been telling them for a long time just how special they really are, but now they know they are winners.  And just to see the look upon each of their mother’s faces when they heard that the UIH Steppers won the competition was life changing.  It literally felt like we had won the Superbowl as it brought victory not only to our team but also to their families!

The 52 Day Challenge

Empowering others to achieve greatness has always been our vision; therefore when an additional vehicle was donated to the ministry we began thinking of ways in which we could inspire others to achieve their goals.  Two of our ladies who have been committed to the ministry for the past 3 years are both in need of vehicle; therefore, we decided to offer a car as an incentive for a three-part challenge over the next 52 days.

The 3 categories are:

·        Spiritual Growth

·         Employment

·        Weight Loss

The challenge just got started on September 26th and we have seen such tremendous commitment from both of the ladies.  They have been reading their Word and exercising daily.  This has motivated both of these ladies to rise to a higher commitment in their personal walk with Christ as well as given them the incentive to fulfill their own personal goals.

We have designed a program where they receive tickets for fulfilling certain requirement, and already one of the ladies has acquired 298 tickets.  This is quite an achievement and we are excited to see the life transformations that both of these ladies are making!

To provide the ladies with another incentive, the winner of the challenge has to be employed and sign a contract that if she is unemployed for more than 30 days over the next 12 months, she must give the car back to United In Him.

*If you would like to donate a vehicle for the 2nd place winner, please call 757-471-0180.*
