Building a Wall
| Our first fund-raising dinner was a huge success complete with Pastor Bobby Hill - our oversight and friend - who gave a tremendous message on building a wall and encouraging others to help by praying and providing resources for the ministry to continue. The night began with a timed Bible quiz where the UIH kids challenged all of the other tables. UIH took the prize! Then, our step team ministered and parents and teens shared how UIH had made a difference in their lives. It was a powerful night of inspiration testimonies of hope, success, and acceptance. We know that God is moving in Twin Canal, but when residents express how much they value the ministry, it touches our hearts again and again. We know that it is God's love that is changing the hearts of the people and we give Him all the glory!
The theme for the dinner was "Building a Wall" from Nehemiah 4:13. UIH is a ministry that is working from within the walls of the community and building strong "walls" one family at a time. We are building a foundation in the lives of the children by teaching them biblical principles, life skills, and time management. By more importantly we are teaching them the importance of putting God first in their life and making Him their highest priority.
To many these principles are ludicrous. To remain morally pure, to be honest in all circumstances, to respect authority, to work hard even when no one is looking, to be on time, to never steal, to refrain from drugs, smoking and alcohol, and to love your enemy - most would call us outlandish to expect all of these from our leaders. But we truly believe that they are going to be the remnant that remains strong in Christ even when others in their generation may stray from God.
