To unite with churches and other Christian organizations to totally transform inner city communities through the love of Jesus Christ.
Four amazing women have started attending church with us on Sunday and their lives are being completely transformed. Each of the women, have come out of the pit of addiction, depression, and/or homelessness and have such amazing influence in sharing the Gospel with others. God is in the process of reshaping their lives and all of them need your prayers!
Sheri has always desired to do the right thing, but never had the power. For months, each time we would visit her she would tell us that she was not doing well and that she was trying to get her life straight. We would encourage her saying, “Jesus is the Only One who can help you, and He loves you and has an awesome plan for your life.” She would always ask, “Do you really believe that?” We knew God was working on her heart, and that one day she would be a vital part of reaching Twin Canal for Christ. For when others see the power of Jesus to completely transform her life, we knew it would result in others embracing Jesus for themselves. But it wasn’t until after the tragic murder of one of her closest friends that Sheri began to really question the purpose of life. At that time, depression and hopelessness seemed to overtake her, but God! Yes, Jesus began showing her His love through small miracles. Then, on Sept 28th she came church with us for the first time, a week later she started a GED program. On Oct 10th, she went forward at the end of service and gave her life to Christ and yesterday she quit her job as a waitress at a strip club. Praise God! Renee has become Sheri’s comrade in the battle against the enemy. These two women who started attending church with us faithfully on the same day have been like a light in a dark world. Together they encourage and strengthen one another to do the right thing. Renee spoke truth into Sheri’s life in regards to the strip club, but at the same time was always there to help her if she needed a babysitter. Two by Two these women are reaching out to their neighbors and inviting them to church. Last week two new children attended and many adults are now thinking more seriously about coming. The residents are looking at these two women and wondering what has brought such a radical change in their lives….ONLY JESUS! Susan is a Christian who has been living Twin Canal for many years and questioned why God brought such tragedy into her life. Horrific events have transpired since she moved here and each time we talked with her, it seemed that it was only getting worse. As a Christian she knew there was a LIGHT at the end of the tunnel, but it seemed so dim that even when she tried to look up, the darkness and depression would set in as her situation seemed hopeless. But God! Through the darkness Susan began to speak of His goodness and His love to her daughter and her many friends who were coming in and out of her home. As she prayed, God began restoring her hope and showing her how she could reach these teenagers for Him. The first Sunday of October, Susan brought 2 teenagers to church. The second and fourth Sunday she brought 5, and just yesterday one of the teenagers went forward and gave her life to Jesus. Praise God for He is the restorer of broken lives! Rachelle who was featured in last month’s newsletter, has now moved out of the shelter and is living with one of our board members, JoAnne, who offered to share her 2 bedroom home with Rachelle and her 4 children for 3 months. Rachelle really needs your prayers to stand strong against the enemy. She is learning many things from JoAnne who is a woman of such commitment and passion for Jesus. JoAnne is teaching her through her love what it means to really walk with God. Rachelle is learning the importance of worship, how to save money, and how to keep a schedule for herself and her children. |
